Required: 3 stools, 2 balls, Dice
Icons:
Thief: Steal all points from other team
Basketball: Game
Headers: Game
Ball Between Stomach Race: Game
Dodgeball: Game
Race To Chair: Game
Race Around Chair: Game
Setup:
Arrange 3 stools in a triangle in the classroom. Have all of them upside down with legs upwards. Place 2 balls in the middle of 2 of the stools legs. This setup should stay in place throughout class, or be put in place prior to students rolling the dice. Next, pair the students from opposite teams and give them numbers. Ex. One student from team A and team B are 1… one student from team A and team B are 2 and so on so that everyone has a number and a rival student to compete against.
Students will roll the dice to move the game piece around the board. When a game is hit, the teacher will yell out a number to determine which students play. The student to finish the game first is the winner. (13 points)
Games:
Basketball: The students that number is called race to pick up their ball, stand behind their stool and try to shoot the ball into the Third stool (basketball hoop). The first student to get the ball back in their stool is the winner.
*Shoot as many times as it takes
Headers: The students that number is called race to pick up their ball and try to head the ball over the board and hit the wall. Or head the ball to a designated area… The first student to do this is the winner. This is surprisingly difficult for children that have never played soccer.
*Students try as long as it takes, or until the teacher cuts them off.
Ball Between Stomach Race: The teacher calls 2 numbers (4 students). These children must race to their teams ball, squeeze it between their stomachs. Race to the board and back to the stool. The team that can drop the ball back into the stool without using their hands to drop it win. If they fail, they must try again.
Race to Chair: Teacher calls a number and 2 children race to turn over their stool and sit on it. OR Teacher calls 2 numbers and 4 children race to turn over the 3 stools and sit on them. The fastest student is the winner… or the student that has no stool is the loser.
Dodgeball: Teacher calls a number, the 2 students race to pick up a ball and play dodgeball. The student that hits the other student with a ball first is the winner.
*If a student hits the other student in the face it is an automatic loss
Race Around Chairs: Teacher calls a number, the students must race around all of the chairs and back to their seats. The first student to sit nicely is the winner.
**With all of these games, they are very fast and very easy. Most of these can be played multiple times in a row because they go so quickly. Some of these games may be too difficult for very young children so you could always just make an adjusted easier game.
