Ball Battles
Required: 2 stools, 2 balls
Icons:
+25: Add 25 points
Typhoon: Erase both teams points
Thief: Team steals all of other teams points
Head ball: Game (Race to head ball 2-3 times)
Throw ball against wall: Game (Race to pass ball off wall to next team mate)
Bounce ball through legs: Game (Race to bounce ball from behind , through the legs, and catch)
Ball Between legs: Game (Race to the board jumping with ball between the legs then drop ball into an upside down stool)
Basketball pass: Game (Race to throw ball to each student)
Throw ball over head: Game (Race to throw ball from behind back - over head- and catch)
Students roll a dice to move playing piece around the board game. If it lands on a game the teacher will choose 2 students to race each other. The winner will be awarded 10 points. These games are mostly fast so time permitting more than just 2 children can play before continuing class.
One ball for each team should be placed inside 2 upside down stools so when a game is hit, the teacher can call on two students to quickly race and play.
Games:
Head Ball: 2 students will race to try and head the ball 2-3 times in a row. The first student to do so and then sit nicely wins.
Throw Ball Against Wall: 2 teams make lines in front of the board. The first student must throw the ball off the wall and have the second student catch it. The second student then throws the ball off the wall and the 3rd student must catch the ball and so on. If a student throws and catches the ball without dropping it, he or she may sit down and exit the game. When an entire team has completed this and sits nicely they win. (This game is much too difficult for any children under 9 and should also be explained very well with examples from the teacher and the best few students before playing)
Bounce Ball Through the Legs: 2 students must race to bounce a ball from behind them through their own legs and catch the ball in front of them. (like basketball dribble) The first student to complete this is the winner.
Ball between Legs: Students must put the ball between their legs and race (hopping) to the board and back to the stool and then drop the ball into the stool without using their hands. (which children love because it looks like they are going to the bathroom) The first student to finish and sit nicely is the winner.
Basketball Pass: One student must pass (throw like basketball pass) the ball from a designated distance to each one of his seated team mates. If a teammate drops the ball they must repeat the pass. The first team to complete all catches and sit nicely is the winner.
Throw Ball Over Head: 2 Students must hold the ball behind their backs, throw the ball over their own head, and catch the ball in front of them. The first student to complete this and sit nicely is the winner.
Comments:
These games all work decent but if too difficult put a time limit on it. Even if it is too tough it is still very funny to watch students try to do some of these then after 30 seconds stop the game with no "winner" but lots of laughs. Also if children are too young just make the games much simpler.
