Game:
1: Head Relay: One student from each team balances a bean bag on their head and race from their chairs, to the board, and back to their chairs.
2: Foot Relay: One student from each team balances a bean bag on their foot and race from their chairs, to the board, and back to their chairs.
3: Bowling Relay: One student from each team must race to throw a bean bag to knock over a bowling pin across the room. Place a pin for each team across the room at an appropriate distance that is difficult for the age level playing. Students must throw from their seat. If they miss, they must retrieve the bean bag, and throw from their seat again until the pin has been hit.
4: Hop Relay: One student from each team must hop from their chairs, to the board, and back with the bean bag squeezed between their feet.
5: Toss Relay: Place a stool for each team at an appropriate distance from each team. One student from each team must toss the bean bag from their chair onto the chair. The bean bag must remain on the chair in order to win.
6: Hard/Easy Relay:
Hard (Age 10-16): One student from each team must toss a bean bag, spin a full 360 degrees, then catch the bean bag. (I had students stand on a line facing the other students so that it was easy to see that they completed a full 360 degree spin)
Easy (Age 4-9): One student from each team must put a bean bag on their backs. They must then crawl from their chairs, to the board, and back to their chairs. If the bean bag falls off, have the teacher or a student help to put the bean bag, back on their backs.
*With all of these races you can place the stools or pins on the floor to race around instead of going to the board. This will shorten or elongate the race. Races can also be around 2 pins/stools in order to make a large triangle race track
*Depending on the age and maturity level of the class these can be individual races that are 1 vs 1 , where the winner is then awarded points. OR as a team relay, where each student from both teams must take part in the relay race to finish as a team, then the winning team is awarded points.
*These are all fast and fun little games that can be played at any level. With very young students (age 4-6) we did not award points, the games were just for fun and both students got a high 5 for participating!
