This year our Halloween festivities took part at Hangzhou’s famous West Lake. Each teacher created a fun activity for students to take part in. Each class then went from activity to activity to play English games to win prizes and candy. Our finally of a potato sack relay race ended each class period with all students winning pens and calendars. I want to thank our staff, parents, and students for creating a wonderful weekend.

Our latest School event was our Farm Field Day. We spent a weekend at a beautiful farm near the Xi Xi Wetlands. Children got to learn all about the farm through 7 different events prepared by our teaching staff. We taught the names of the vegetables at the farm through vegetable races and a little incentive with a water gun. Children got to pick strawberries after a frog hunt in the strawberry patch. Each student was able to choose their own plant and prepare it in small stone pots. We had tank races with news paper tank wheels. Kids even got to make their own cookies and dumplings. We finished the day with huge relay races on our obstacle course with students, parents and teachers getting involved. The event went off spectacularly and all had a wonderful time.
Our latest School event was our Halloween Field Day. We went to a nearby college campus with creeks, ponds and fields everywhere. We set up our 6 games of the day for all of our students and had a great day. Not all children dressed up, (as its not celebrated in China) but the ones who did were fantastic. We had a great time with each class and ended the day with a huge pumpkin relay race with students, parents and teachers. Many people were falling, dropping pumpkins and laughing all the time. The event was a great success and each student got to take home a prize. Our Latest school event was to Amigo's Restaurant. A dozen special students were awarded the chance to go to a great foreign restaurant near West Lake. All students were given a 30 minute lesson on the menu and tipping in a western restaurant by our own, Professor Kyle. Students then ordered food from the foreign manager, Logan, who comes from Florida, USA. Our students then got to enjoy pasta, ribs, pizza, burgers, french fries, popcorn chicken, soups, desserts and English conversation with each other for 90 minutes. The event went great! The only speed bump was Henry's mother complaining that her son spent his whole lunch's allowance and ate too much. (We did not mention to her that he finished the plates of other students as well.)
