1.) Strawberry Picking
This is one tent of the strawberries. Children are allowed to pick 1 pound of strawberries for free. After one pound they can pay for it.
Teach a few Strawberry Foods... Strawberry milkshake, strawberry short cake, NEED MORE FOODS ...?
Teaching Question and Answers.
Game 1: Find the frog. 20-30 frogs will be hidden in the area around the strawberry tent. Students and parents will race to find 1 frog and then race back to the tent entrance where the teacher will be. The student must answer a question before being given a bucket and allowed into the strawberry patch to pick their 1 jing of strawberries. Questions can involve strawberry foods, or simple questions for young students.
*Students will also get to keep the frog they find as a prize... ONE frog per student
*Just a goofy hiding game for fun, also to slow down how many children are entering at a time. Each student should only pick up one frog... Then go to pick strawberries.
Game 2: Closest to 1 jing. The farm has a scale in which we will weigh their buckets. The weights will be recorded and then the top half of the students will win a star.
Game 3: Biggest Strawberry: The students that find the Biggest strawberries will also be awarded a star. (Out of the losers bracket of the closest to 1 jing group)
*Teach students Bigger and Biggest as going over the biggest strawberries
Game 4 If there is still Time this is just for fun.
Water balloon toss: See if there is a pair of parents or students that would like to toss a water balloon back and forth. Each throw the person must take a step back. The pair get farther and farther apart while tossing the water balloon. When the balloon breaks they are finished.
If many pairs want to play, the teacher can count how many steps each pair takes, and award the pair that took the most steps before breaking the balloon with a star.
IF No one wants to Play. The teacher and a TA should play, just for fun! and to waste time...
We are unsure, of how long the strawberry picking will take, so this is an extra game. If there is extra time, have fun and toss a balloon around. If no time. then move the class on after the weigh in contests.

2.) Pick a Plant
Students get to pick out a pot from a wide selection. They then get to look around and pick out a small plant. (Cactus and other small plants) There is a full tent set up for this. Much larger than the picture, as we didn't go inside.
1. First the teacher will teach some of the names of the plants inside. USE DD METHOD There will be 10 flashcards.
Flashcards: Jade Tree, Jade Lotus, Black Prince, White Peony, Hen and Chicks, Brighter Yellow, Campfire, Prodigy, Guanyin Lotus, Qian Pagoda.
2. Once students are getting the hang of the names, start a flashcard drill. I say you say repeat. But when the teacher shows a card but doesnt say the word, the first student to say the word is the winner. That student then gets to go inside to choose a pot and a plant. The teacher continues playing this ... say repeat 2 flashcards, 3rd card see which student (OR PARENT) says it the fastest... they go in.... When all are inside the teaching is done!
3. Students will choose their plants and dig them up, put them in their pots.
4. Game FIND A WAY: Make 2 teams with students AND parents. Each team will start with a large object (POT). When the teacher blows the whistle, the teams will run to their object and all must touch the object at the same time. One TA will watch one team, the teacher will watch the other team. The teacher blows the whistle when they see all students and parents are touching the item at the same time. The winning team gets a finger point. Next the teams back up again, and the pots are replaced with smaller pots. (more difficult with less surface area). When the whistle blows, both teams run in again to race to see which team can work together to all be touching the pot at the same time. Winner gets a finger point. This game is played an Odd number of times, each time with a smaller Pot. By the End it should get quite difficult to squeeze everyone from the team together to touch the pot at the same time...
The team that gets the most finger points is the winner, and recieves a Star on their Score card.
*If a team is found cheating the other team is the winner. parents and the Teacher watching that team must work together to decide when everyone is touching...

3.) Teach Vegetables
We will have 6-12 flashcards for vegetables, depending on the age of the students.
1. Teacher will teach the flashcards in a DD fashion
Flashcards: Mint, Cucumber, Pepper, Egg plant, Okra, Corn, Lettuce, Tomato, Peas, Squash, Long cow pea, Broad Bean. Up to 12... some easy, some tough...
2. Chinese tour guide and the English Teacher, will take students around the fields to show the different plants. At each stop the teacher should do a quick review of each flashcard, then go to the next plant with the tour guide.
3. Race Game... In the first Picture you can see a Square path around the flower field as an example of the field of play... This game takes place only on the paths on the outside... Im guessing they will not want people running through the flowers... But maybe as they are distinctive paths it will be allowed to make crazier...
The teacher places flash cards around the square path face down. An even number of students and parents will line up on each side of the square. The teacher will call out (Using a loudspeaker) one of the flashcards. Parents and students must race to find the flashcard. Students and parents may pick up flashcards to see what it is but then must place face down. Once the card has been found Im guessing there will be a shouting frenzy and all must converge on that cards area. The last person there is the loser,,, the other team wins a finger point. Parents and students then spread out again into all 4 sides. The teacher then calls out another card. (Or the teacher can instantly call out a new card without having people spread out. my thought is if too many people, it may be dangerous... if many people then have them spread out a bit in the least, or spread back to all 4 sides.) The game continues until one team is the winner (5 finger points, 3 finger points, or time allows) The team that wins is awarded a star.
*If very young kids, may be fun to say that mom daughter, dad son, must hold hands during the game.
4. Game Water balloon: At the end, they should be hot and tired out. hopefully good with the vocab... The teacher can then make a bet with the students... If a student can say All the words correctly (or 3 of the words... Something to the level of the students) then that student can throw a water balloon at the teacher, or their parents. IF a student makes a mistake, the tides turn, and the teacher, or parent can throw a water balloon at the student. Have the student say who they want to hit prior to saying words... they bet teacher, teacher throws at them if they lose... they choose parent, parents throw at the student...
Just a goofy fun way to end, a difficult activity... lots of learning, and running...

4.) Baking Cookies
There's a big room which all children and parents will prepare their cookies. They cookies will then be transferred to the ovens and cooked for them.
1. The directions are printed out for how to make cookies. The teacher will say the english step and show how to do it. The Chinese baker will then say the same in Chinese... Continue saying English first, then Chinese after until the preparation is complete with the cookies. The cookies will then be handed in to the staff for baking... we do not deal with ovens. 20 minute prep time... 10 minutes baking time...
2. While cookies bake. Game: Hula Hoop race. 2 teams are made. The two teams form long lines holding hands. (Parents and Children) A hula hoop is started at one side of each line on the arm of the first student. When the teacher blows a whistle the race starts. The teams must go through the hoop one at a time, WHILE holding hands. The hoop will slowly make its way down the line. The team to finish first is the winner. Can play a few times, time permitting.
A. same teams race a few times
B. switch teams each race
C. Children race, parents race, children and parents race...
Stars will be awarded to hoop race winners

5.) Feed Animals
A bunch of goats, that are quite eager for food. A few chickens.
This area has a 50 meter path next to it. We will be having BIG FOOT races in this area next to the animals.
Big foot race... 2 planks of wood with foot straps for feet. parent and young child race strapped together against another parent young child.
OR
6 Older children and parents, strapped in race against 6 other older children and parents.
How to choose who plays... English games. Depending on the age of students the teacher will have different thinking games to decide who can play first. The games should be quick so that students can all get to race atleast once and appropriate to the level of students.
Game Ideas: Too Be Changed Most Likely...
Guess the number (Between 1-20)
quickest answers: which animal can fly, what month comes after may, how many eyes do you have...
Describe something. I use this to do my homework. it has an eraser on it... (PENCIL)
I SPY: i spy something white and ugly that has a beard... GOAT
Opposites: teacher says black students say white... fat... thin... good... bad...
quickest reaction (Simon says) "sit on the ground and stand up" fastest wins... "jump three times"...
Spelling: spell a word
To choose who races, the teacher can play a game like one of the examples above... then have the race. The student that wins, earns a star and can play with the animals, or try to race again... Each new race, play a different kind of word game...
