Roll the dice to decided which game students will play.
Games:
Lottery Ticket: Place a poker card face down on the board with a magnet. Each team will get two tries to guess what the card is. (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K,A) After each guess the teacher should write the guess on the board so that all know what has been guessed already. If a student guesses correctly they can choose between all students on that team winning a green money card, OR 100 points for their team. Replace the poker card with a new card after each correct guess.
*For younger classes the teacher can choose to only use the number cards. (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10).
*Students only get 4 guesses at a time so the amount of points and money cards shouldn't get outrageous
Board Pass: Each team is given a ball. One by one, students will do a relay race to run to the board, throw the ball off the board and catch the ball, sit down, then give the ball to the next person on their team. When all students have completed the task and are sitting nicely they have won. If a student doesn't catch the ball they must throw again until they have successfully thrown the ball off the board and caught it. Winners are awarded 10 points.
*Be sure to tell students they may throw the ball from far away to try and get a quick head start, or if they are not very good at catching and throwing, to go close to the board
*This game is very fun as most boys love to throw from a far distance to try to win quickly, but always end up dropping the ball and having to throw again
Hoop Roll: Put the two hoops on the floor away from where the students are sitting. Each student gets to roll the ball once, from their seat to try and get the ball into the hoop AND stay in the hoop. If a ball remains in the hoop, that student is awarded 10 points.
Easy game in theory, Difficult to win
Hoop Race: The teacher sits on a chair in the middle of the classroom with 2 hoops held up on the floor on either side of him/her. One student from each team must race from their seats, crawl through the hoop and back to their chairs. The winner is awarded 10 points. To make this game more fun for children, the teacher can hold the hoops up using only one or two fingers and tell the children they cannot touch the hoops. If they touch the hoop and the hoop falls, they must try again.
*My hoops were different sizes, Before each race the students would play paper scissor stone to decide who got the bigger hoop
Hoop Pass: 2 students from the same team sit across the classroom from each other. They must roll the hoop back and forth as many times as they can without the hoop falling, or them leaving their seats to catch the hoop. The number of passes is the amount of points the 2 children are awarded.
*I had each student from each team get to play once each time this game came up
*Older students can be quite good at this and go on forever. In this case, After 5 completed passes the opposite team was given the balls to throw and knock down the hoops from their seats. If they missed they would run to get the ball, then sit down in their chair to throw again until they could stop the other team.
