Monster Battle: Game
Candy: Hungry Monster Game
The chosen student puts the playing piece at the bottom of the tongue to start. He/she then rolls the dice to move up the monster's tongue. The student can choose to stay at the spot it lands on, or roll again to move up. If the student rolls all the way up into the monster's mouth, that student loses the turn and gets nothing. Each time a new student rolls the dice the playing piece goes back to the bottom of the tongue to start.
Games:
Monster Battle: One student from each team gets a ball. The object of the game is that both students are monsters and want to kill the other. They kill the other monster by hitting them with the ball directly. (Not off walls, Bouncing is OK) Students must "Hike" the ball to do this, NO THROW. Students must run around getting balls, and use two hands to "HIKE" the ball through their legs backwards at the other student. (Like American football hiking the ball to the quarterback) Once a student is hit, the game is over and the victor is awarded 10 points.
*I usually have each student play quickly if time permits
*Be sure to teach your students how to properly play first, as in moving around and dodging the ball then also hiking the ball properly, not just bouncing the ball through the legs
*I started each battle with the students holding the ball over their heads and facing each other.
Hungry Monster Game: The cut up rubber gloves represent the candy, and the buckets represent the monsters mouth. The teacher will throw the candies around the floor evenly. The small candies are worth 5 points each, the large lolli-pops are worth 10 points each. The aim of the game is to shoot the balls from behind the candies into the buckets (which bucket doesn't matter) If the shot goes in the bucket, the student picks up the candy and gives it to his/her team to tally points later. One student from each team plays at a time. The student playing gets two shots, then gives the ball to the next student on the team and on down the line. All students play this game but only 2 at a time. Each student should get many chances to shoot the ball throughout the game. The game ends when all the candies have been picked up. Students then tally how many points they have. (5 points for small candies, 10 points for big candies)
*My classes can be large so I did 2 shots per student so all could play and not be embarrassed if they missed shots, as only two shots in a row can be thrown
*If the game is lasting too long because the shots were too difficult i just moved them to closer spots and continued
*With the last candy, kids can get excited, be sure to not allow pushing and blocking, First student to the candy shoots.
