King of the Mountain
Required: 2 bowlings pins, dice, 1 ball

Star: Starting space
+5: Plus 5 points
+10: Plus 10 points
Scepter: Scepter Game
Crown (King): King of the Mountain Game
Peak of Mountain: King of the Mountain Game
Each team has its own side of the mountain to climb. The left team climbs the left side of the mountain, the right team climbs the right side of the mountain. To play the student puts the playing piece on the bottom of the mountain on the star. The student may roll the dice one time to see which spot he/she lands on. (there are only 6 spots on this game, each time a student rolls the dice they start from their star and climb up the appropriate amount of spaces) The top of the mountain peak is reserved to write the name of the person that is currently the "King or Queen" and also to play the King game. At the end of class the student that has his/her name on the top of the mountain wins a pink money card, or a prize. (The king/queen will change many times throughout class)
Games:
Scepter: Place a bowling pin under the board for each team. When the scepter game is landed on students from the two teams must race to make 2 lines and pass the pin over their head to the student behind them, then that student passes the pin under (through their legs) to the next student and so forth going over, then under, then over then under...When the 2 teams pass the bowling pin from the front of the line to the back of the line, and then back up to the front of the line doing this over under action. They then place the bowling pin back in its original position and race to their seats. The first team to complete this is the winner and is awarded 10 points.
*if it is a close race, or kids really love it play again, as its a very quick game
Crown (King): The student that lands on this space is now the "King". This student will have one minute to use one ball to try to eliminate all students from the other team by means of dodge ball. I made a triangle "mountain" space in the corner of the room for the kings mountain. The king must throw from within this area. (after each throw the king leaves his/her mountain to get the ball and return to the "mountaint" to throw again) The other team's students may run around anywhere in the classroom safely, trying not to get hit. If the king can hit a student directly (not off the floor, walls, or other children) then that student is out and sits down. If the king can eliminate all students within a minute he/she has won, and is awarded 25 points. If a student can catch the ball (that the king has thrown during the game) then that student is instantly the king, and they get to try to eliminate the opposite team. In this way the king or queen can switch a few times quickly if students are decently coordinated. This is much better for older students in this way as it makes it more competitive. With younger students that are less coordinated it becomes more of a race against the minute clock to kill the other team, which is still fun.
*the over under scepter race is fun and fast for all ages
** King of the Mountain game is also fast and easy for most ages
*** students must not be allowed to hide behind anything, or jump on chairs
***Change the name on the board each time a new king/queen has won, and at the end of class that student should be awarded something special
