Bird Ball
*Seen in the picture on the left, on the table there are two little toys. A green and a pink toy with feathers coming out of the top. These are Asian hackey sacks, or feathered juggling toys to juggle with your feet. The following games use these toys to play, but could be replaced with bean bags or something else of that nature. These two were bought in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
Required: 2 Jianzi, (Hackey sacks, bean bags, shuttle cocks), Dice, Bucket
Icons:
1: Juggle #
2: Field Goal Kick
3: Balance on Head
4: Kick Spin Catch
5: Bucket Shot
6: Thief
Students roll the dice to decide which game will be played. Each game is a 1 on 1 race to see who can finish the challenge first. The winner is awarded 5 points for their team. Each game is very quick and can be played multiple times by different students. If students take longer than 30 seconds to finish the challenge, just call in two different students to play to keep the game fun and moving quickly. (Some of the challenges are more difficult)
Games
1: Juggle #: Call two students to race to juggle their shuttle cock with their feet for a specified number of times in a row.
*I said between 2-5 depending on the age of the class
2: Field Goal Kick: Call two students to race to kick a field goal from behind a specified place in the classroom. The field goal poles are drawn on the board in yellow, like american football goal posts.
3: Balance on Head: Call two students to race to put the shuttle cock on their heads at the board, then walk with it balanced on their heads all the way back to their seats without it falling or touching the shuttle cock.
4: Kick Spin Catch: Call two students to race to kick the shuttle cock in the air, do a spin, and catch the shuttle cock in one smooth motion.
*If this is too difficult, (Which it is quite hard) have students kick the shuttle cock over their heads and catch it.
5: Bucket Shot: Call two students to race to throw the shuttle cock into the bucket from a specified distance.
6: Thief: The team that rolls a 6 steals all points from the other team.
*With all of these games its a race to see who can finish first correctly. The two students continue to try until one of them accomplishes the feat. If it is dragging on more that 30 seconds, simply call two different students to continue the same game until someone wins.
*All ages had a lot of fun with this game as its really fast, and many students get a chance to play each time the dice is rolled because students can win within a matter of seconds.
