Escape Room K-3
Materials Required: 2 Lock boxes, Marsh mellows and Skewers, 2 hula hoops, 12-15 balloons, rubber bug toys, tape, envelopes, Coke, Mentos...
Background Story: Students have been bitten by zombies and are infected with the zombie virus. Students have 50 minutes to work together to try and survive! The antidote is locked in the 2 lock boxes but the combinations are unknown. The only way to learn the combinations to the locks are to compete in games to unlock clues that may lead to their cure! Remember in 50 minutes everyone will start turning into zombies, it is important to work together and play games quickly, to earn more clues!
Game 1: Each student is given a puzzle piece of a picture. (Extra pieces of the pictures are scattered in obvious places around the room) Students must race to put their pictures together like a puzzle. There are 2 puzzles. These create the two teams for the rest of the class. On the opposite side of the picture is the clue to the next Game

Game 2: Marsh-mellows and Skewers
Students will then be given skewers and marshmellows. The 2 teams have 7 minutes to build a house. The team that builds the tallest, freestanding house is the winner and will be awarded a point. (at the end Points can be money cards, or candy... Or nothing)
Clue: After the game the teams are given an envelope with a clue.

Game 3: Mine Field: Draw two 3x6 grids on the floor with tape. It is a mine field. One for each team. One at a time, students must try to walk the correct path through the mine field. If the hit a mine bomb, they die, and go to the back of the line to try again. The team that gets through the mine field first is the winner. One teacher must watch one team, one TA must watch one team. The paths are written on a answer sheet card... below is an example.
Clue: Envelope with the next clue is given to the students. the card inside has the color RED drawn on it. Students must use these two clues to realize the RED numbers are the answer to the first safe with the Coke inside... (446)

Hoop Spin: Each team has a hula hoop. Each team must hold the hula hoop up with only 2 fingers each. They must race to move the hoop a full 360 degrees only using their 2 fingers... Picture below
Balloon March: Students must walk through an obstacle course of chairs in the room with balloons pressed against each other. No hands allowed. If a balloon hits the floor, or a student cheats they must start over. The team that can snake through the obstacle course first is the winner... Picture below

Scavenger hunt:
Students must find all of the animals from the pictures hidden in the classroom. Once students find all of the animals the teacher gives them their final clue!

Clue: # of Animals = the answer to the code...
*Students must count the amount of each spider, scorpion, cockroach to learn the numbers of the password for the lock box... they put the numbers in order using the picture from the earlier clue...

Once the safe is Open. The teacher can say to make the antidote work we must put the candy in the bottle. If gas comes out of the bottle then we are saved. If nothing happens then we will become zombies... * The teacher should then put the candy into the bottle on top of a rag so it doesn't get too messy!
