Flip Cup
Required: Dice, 2 Plastic Cups, Small Table or Surface
Icons:
Star: Starting space, or Choose a space
+5: Add 5 points to the jackpot
Switch Arrows: Switch team points, or student that landed on the space chooses one student from each team to switch teams
Chicken Head: Winner of the Jackpot (Move all points from the jackpot to that students team) *I wrote "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner" next to the chicken head and would have all students yell together after someone landed on this spot. (For older classes, the first student to yell this out, regardless of who rolled the dice, would win the jackpot!)
1 vs. 1: Flip Cup Game
Teachers: Flip Cup Game
Team: Flip Cup Game
Setup: These games all involve races of flipping a cup from its bottom, to its top. Students do this by placing the cup at the edge of a table, and using two fingers to flip the cup in the air and try to have it land upside down on the table. Students continue to try do this until they succeed. Be sure to have light plastic cups such as disposable cups. Larger cups are better. A small table is also needed for the students to place the cups on and flip them.
Games:
1 vs. 1: Choose one student from each team to race to the table and try to flip their cups. The winner is awarded 2 points. Give each student one chance to play.
Teachers: Each team chooses their best two students to race against the 2 teachers. If the students win they are awarded 5 points. The teachers play one game against both teams.
Team: The two teams have a relay race to see which team can all flip their cup first. ONLY the two students playing should be standing at the table, all other students watch from their seats. When a teammate successfully flips their cup the student runs back to their seat, gives the next student a "High Five", then that student runs to the table to flip. The first team to have all students flip their cup is the winner and is awarded 10 points.
*If their is an extra student on one team, a teacher can fill in, or have one student from that team go twice
*If a student tries to cheat in some way (Bad flip, hit the other students cup...) Have that student do a few jumping jacks, or frog jumps to slow them down
These games are pretty fast depending on the age of the students. The older they are the quicker the games are. If students behave and are fast I would allow one student from each team to roll the dice in order to play more, and to get more points into the jackpot.
If students are quite young, I changed the rule of flipping from bottom to top to just hit the cup in the air to do flips and if it lands up right (Not on its side) they win
