Hop Scotch
Required: Hop Scotch grid taped to the floor, Dice
Board Game: Each team has a playing piece. After each drill the LOSER must roll the Dice. (If there is no winner after each drill, simply have two children do paper scissor stone or some other way to see who must roll the dice) The playing pieces start at the door of the building and goes up to the top floor by each window space. If the playing piece reaches the top of the building their "man" jumps off the roof and their team loses. When the team loses it is time for the other team to play hop scotch (each student plays once from the team that won). The piece returns to the starting door space to continue play throughout class.
*This is just a simple board game that spaces out playing hop scotch so the entire class is not just playing games constantly
Hop Scotch: The grid is laid out with the starting space in the blue rectangle, and the ending spot is also a blue rectangle. Between those are red and green squares for children to be jumping through. (The black spaces are just empty spaces not to jump in) If a student can jump through the entire grid without making a mistake (landing outside the boxes) they win. Students must also land in the last box and hold their stance for a few seconds. (Like a gymnast landing after their routine)
Easy: Students jump through the grid as is.
Medium: Roll the dice prior to children playing. The number of the dice will represent the square on the grid NOT to jump on.
Difficult: Rules of Medium, AND Green squares are marked for the left foot, Red squares are marked for the right foot. (Notice the last two squares are opposite, so students must jump backwards into the two boxes, then jump backwards into the final blue rectangle... Quite difficult but doable)
*I start simple, and then gradually teach more difficult styles as the class goes. After all have been played I give children the option of which style they want to play(Easy, Medium or Difficult) Easy=3 points Medium=5 points Difficult= 20 points
*This game is a lot of fun and great for all ages depending on the difficulty style
