Ice Berg
Required: Mats cut into different sizes and shapes, Dice
Icons:
+5: Add 5 points to that team
Ice Berg: Game
Dice: Roll again
Blizzard: Both teams lose all points
+10: Add 10 points to that team
North Pole Game: Game
Students always start with the playing piece at the "start" space. Children roll the dice once (Unless they land on the roll again space) to see which game will be played. If they roll a 6 they play the Big North Pole Game, If they get the "roll again" space and roll higher than 3 they still play the Big North Pole Game.
Games:
Ice Berg Game: Lay the Mats out on the floor. The teacher will roll the dice. The number of the dice represents which ice berg the students must touch with their hands or feet. (depending on class you can play the shape, the color, or both the shape and the color... or just keep changing it each time) The last student to find and touch the safe iceberg is the loser.
*Loser can mean the other team wins points OR that player is out... (with very young children points to the other team is probably better so they continue to play)
*The teacher will roll the dice until there is a winner, OR with very young students, just roll the dice 4-5 times, then continue teaching the lesson
*The Picture of the Dice/shapes/colors is an Example...Use the colors that correspond with the mats you have in your class
North Pole Game (Young Students): Ice Berg Tag: Put the mats on the floor. (1-2 less mats than the amount of students) The teacher is "IT" and must try to tag one of the students. Students are "Safe" while standing on an ice berg But must count to 3 and then move to a new ice berg. Play until a student is caught or a minute or two has gone by. *This is just a silly game to let kids run around a bit and laugh at the teacher trying to catch them.
*Other Possible Rules:
Students crawl from ice berg to ice berg
Students must stand on one foot on the iceberg
Say the color of their ice berg when the teacher tags them as a free pass but then they must get off of the ice berg
Students must answer a question "What is your name? What color is it? (the ice berg) How old are you? Then they must move to another ice berg
*Award the winning team 20 points
North Pole Game (Older Students): Ice Berg Race: The teacher will lay out the same amount of mats as their are children in the class. One student from each team will play paper scissor stone to see which team will choose a mat first. Each team alternates choosing which mats they want until they are divided up. The race is to see which team can get from their chairs - around the teacher in the middle of the room - and back to their chairs, without touching the floor. (Using the mats)
This is a team building game, students should work together to find the most efficient way to get all children from their team around the teacher and back to their chairs without touching the floor. If a student blatantly touches the floor they should return to their seat, wait for their team to return, then try again.
*Award the winning team 20 points
*There is NO PUSHING OR STEALING MATS in this game
*This game can start easy using larger mats, and get more difficult each round by using smaller and smaller sized mats.
*Students may choose to go quickly one or 2 at a time, or go slowly as a team... or any other way they think of, as long as all students get around the teacher and back to their chairs.
**Below is an Example of ONE team going around the teacher in yellow by using 4 ice berg mats
