Red Light Green Light
Required: Dice, money cards or playing cards, chair
Icons:
Star: Starting position, or choose a spot on the board game
Thief: Steal all points from the other team
Pig Cop: Minus 50 points from team
+50: Add 50 points to the team
Stop Lights (Team vs. Team): Game
Stop Lights (Relay Race): Game
Stop Lights (Teacher vs. All): Game
Students roll a dice to move the playing piece around the board.
Games:
The games follow the rules of "Red Light Green Light". The teacher turns around to face away from children. While turned around the teacher says loudly "Red Light Green Light One, Two, Three". As the teacher is turned around students try to slowly creep forward. If the teacher turns around and catches any students moving they go back to the start and try again. Older students should put a money card/playing card on their heads as they play to move slower. Young children maybe too difficult to use cards and can walk or crawl.
Stop Lights (Team vs. Team): Each team lines up on opposite sides of the classroom touching a wall. The object of the game is to creep to the middle of the room to sit on a line that divides the room. When a student reaches the line and sits nicely with their card still on their head they win and can go back to their seat. When an entire team makes it to the line and then back to their seats they are the winners. Obviously, if the student is caught moving they go back to their wall and start again. Or if using cards, if the card falls off their head they must go back to their wall and start again.
Stop Lights (Relay Race): Students have a relay race one at a time to go from their seats around a chair in the middle of the room and back to their seat. Then the next two students from the teams go. Only one student from each team plays at a time, and if the student is caught moving they must start again from their seat. Also if the teacher turns to see the the card fell off their head they must start again. At no time while the students are playing and transferring the money card from head to head may they be seen moving.
*As this takes quite a bit longer to finish, the speed the teacher says "red light green light one, two, three" can be said quite slow.
Stop Lights (Teacher vs. All): Students start in their seat. Students must creep from their seats to the teacher on the other side of the class room. The first student to touch the teacher without being caught "moving" is the winner.
*The winner of all these games can be awarded 50 points.
*The speed, or tempo that the teacher says "red light green light one, two, three" should be changing from quick to slow to make more fun.
*The teacher can fool students by turning around, and not saying anything then turning around quickly to catch students and send them back to the start.
*Depending on the age of students this can be played with cards on their heads, walking, crawling...
