Soccer Star
Required: 2 balls, Dice, few stools
Icons:
Star: Starting space Or Choose a space
Juggle: Game
Thief: Steal all points from the other team
Dribble: Game
Typhoon: Erase all points from both teams
Wall Pass: Game
Roll the dice to move the playing piece around the board game. If the students land on a "Game", choose 2 children to race to finish the soccer games. The first student to complete the task is the winner and is awarded 2 points for simple games, and 5 points for the big Dribble game. Line up 3-5 stools in the middle of the classroom to play the games.
Games:
Juggle: Call on one student from each team to pick up their balls. Each student picks up their ball and must juggle the ball in the air 3 times before returning to their seat. Children may juggle using any body part except their hands. If the ball hits the ceiling, teacher, or TV, the student that kicked the ball must do 3 frog jumps and then continue playing. Depending on the age of the students, the teacher can make the rules of this game easier or more difficult. The winner is awarded 2 points.
*This game is fast and fun, If 2 students take longer than 30 seconds to accomplish the task, simply call on two new students to take over. Time permitting, allow each student one chance to play
*Easier styles may be to juggle 2 times with your head, foot, knee....
*More difficult style may be to not allow hands at all to start, or to raise the amount of juggles that must be completed
Dribble: Call on one student from each team to pick up their balls. Line up a few chairs in the middle of the classroom for the children to dribble around. After students dribble the ball in a circle around the chairs 3 times they race to sit down. If a ball hits a chair at any time, the student that kicked it must do 3 frog jumps and then continue to play. The winner is awarded 2 points.
Wall Pass: Call on one student from each team to pick up their balls. When the teacher says "GO", students must race to pass the ball off the wall 5 times, then race back to their seats. Have the stools separate the two students. If at any time a ball touches the chairs, the student that kicked it must do 3 frog jumps. The first student to achieve this is the winner and is awarded 2 points.
*If this is too easy, students can be told they must kick the ball from behind a designated distance. (5 ft, 2 meters...)
This game was a lot of fun as students made a lot of mistakes and would have to stop and do some squat jumps (Frog jumps). This can also be changed to spins, jumping jacks and so on. The idea is just to make sure students are safe in playing, and also slow down students that are crazy and out of control while playing.
