Viper Volleyball
Required: Dice, Balloon, 10 Bowling Pins, Divider Line on the floor or a Net for volleyball play
Icons:Star: Starting space of the board game / Choose any space
Bomb: Lose 10 Points
Snake: Viper Volleyball Game
Thief: Steal all points from the opposing team
+25: Award 25 points
Typhoon: Erase all points from both teams
Game:
Viper Volleyball: As shown in the picture below. The yellow and black line represents the volleyball net. The students are standing on opposite sides of the "net" (Yellow and Black Line). The pins are set up on the floor randomly with 5 pins on each side. The teacher sits in the chair at the "Net"(next to the board) to start game play and also to judge points scored.
The idea of this game is that the pins represent viper snakes. Children want to play volleyball with the balloon, but also stay away from the viper pins. If a student knocks a pin over during play, that student is "Out". The student must pick up the pin and set it back in its place, then sit down on the side. Students may also try to hit the balloon into pins on the other team's side. If a pin is knocked over by the balloon, the closest student is "Out", or the other team can choose whom to kick "Out". The game continues until the score of volleyball reaches 10 for one team, Or until one team has lost all of its players because they were killed by the dangerous Viper Pins!
*If there are multiple students on a team, they must not hit the balloon multiple times in a row. (Johnny hits the ball 3 times to get across the net... They must interchange who is hitting the balloon as in real volleyball... Johnny hits, then Sally hits, then Johnny can hit it again.
*If a team is down to only One student then that student may hit the balloon 3 times to get it across
*For older classes I make these rules very strict to make the game more fun. If a student hits the balloon too many times then they are "Out"
This was another take on balloon volleyball in the classroom. This one is a bit different and makes children slow down a bit because they don't want to knock over the Viper Pins. This game can go forever, which is why I played until one team reached 10 points, OR until one team had all been kicked out.
I awarded the winning team 25 points
